Is the command and control aircraft Wedgetail the best fighter to replace our old F111's and FA18 of
The Australian Government recently ordered 200 new fighters to replace Wedgtail our current devices. Ongoing construction in the United States by Boeing, are they the best for the defense Australias and possible future conflict with Indonesia?
1) The Wedgetail will not replace any of your current aircraft, especially not your fighters and aircraft attack. This is an advanced airborne command and control program to support your fighters by providing real-time tactical information to fighter pilots. Australia currently uses the Hawkeye E2 to that effect, which was designed for the U.S. Navy and is a plane short range with a number of limitations that will overcome the Wedgetail. I do not know if the RAAF intends to withdraw from the Hawkeyes after they get the Wedgetail or not. If I understand the command to less than 10 aircraft, not 200. The USAF has only 30 or so jets of AWACS and 200 would be foolish and would probably Overkill Bankruptcy of your nation. I suppose you read about the planned purchase of aircraft and a fighter and got confused with the Wedgetail. 2) All your appliances are built by other nations, mainly the United States. The F111 was built by General Dynamics and was transported by the U.S. Air Force and the RAAF. The F18 was built by McDonell Douglas and is now a Boeing product after purchasing it from the old. It is controlled by the U.S. Navy, the Air Force and RAAF Canuck, and a few others.
