Dark Helmet?
Any idea how Dark Helmets mask mechanism worked? The mask is so large that it goes over the top of his head. How did his head rest inside the helmet? I have studied flight pilot helmet visors. There may be a few clues there. Any help? I make the normal white and black Spaceball helmets but now I need to recreate Rick Moranis' helmet.
If you attached two side anchors to a head support such as the insides used on a batter's helmet or the pivoting one's used in a welder's visor, to the inside of a helmet the size as the one used as the Dark helmet, then you would have room at the top of the helmet to retract the visor. Besides, it was a Mel Brooks movie, keep it simple, it was not complicated. Think simple, he did, and loved the Spaceballs by the way. Mel Brooks is comedy genius!
