Navy River
Is there a safe route to get from Shedd Aqaurium to The Navy Pier by bike with children?
I am thinking of coming into town and renting a bike for my wife and me and a carrier for my two kids. I can rent bikes at the Navy Pier, but am wondering if there is access for bikes/pedestrians to get across the draw bridge on Lakeshore going over the river that divides the two areas.
Am I better off heading west a few blocks from the Navy Pier, riding across another bridge, and doubling back? I want it to be a safe bet for our kids and us.
Please help me!
You can get directly there by following the Lakefront bike path. It is safe, but with small children I would be extra cautious. The path can get very busy with joggers and rollerbladers in addition to people with different levels of biking experience. There also is a water taxi where I think you can bring your bikes that travels across the Lake from right outside of the Shedd.
