So my boyfriend is going into the air force to be a PJ and we talked about getting married after indoc so then I could live with him on base in NM during his two years of training. Im in college and would have to transfer to a school there. What should we do? Can I live on base with him?
During training, even if you are married there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to move there. That is based entirely on his training unit, and frankly most of them especially in the spec-ops world don't want you there. They see you as a distraction, that they don't need on their candidate who the government is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on to train.
Now IF you get married, and IF he actually gets co-location orders during training to have you move down there, you will not be allowed to live on post. On-Post housing is only for Permanent Party personnel. So he would get BAH + Dependents and you would have to find an apartment off post.
The reality is only about 10-20% of PJ Indoc candidates actually pass indoc, so most likely this is not gonna happen anyways. If he fails he will get reclassed into something that he is going to hate like services or more likely security forces, whose tech schools are much shorter and you definitely wont be allowed to join him then.
