After Action
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010What does the action of my Winchester Defender Pump shotgun open up on its own after firing buckshot rounds?
I have never seen a pump shotguns action open up on its own after firing any type of rounds. Is this a normal thing for Model 1300 Defenders ? ( my first Winchester Pump ). Or do I need to get this thing checked out? PS it opened enough after firing to expose the brass of the shell and maybe 1/2 " of casing.
Also it did not do this with regular field loads.
Thanks
my remington does the same thing-particularly when I'm shooting high velocity buckshot or slugs. It is not that the action is blowing open on its on, but because the naturel grip places your support hand on the fprend/pump handle and when the recoil occurs your arm moves enough to open the action.
To make sure that this is what is happening rather than a gun problem, fire the shot gun with your suport hand under the receiver rather than on the foregrip.
