Cavalry Vietnam
Sunday, September 26th, 2010PEOPLE WHO KNOW ABOUT THE B TROOP 1/10 CAVALRY (USA)?
hi i am the granddaughter of a deceased Vietnam veteran who served from 1968-1969 but every one that i know doesn't know his war history anything about him my mom said he had many metals but he through them away. so if you know anyone who was in the same troop and knew Jon Griffen pleas tell me as much as you know. thank you for your answers
I don't know if the book at the link is the best or not. From what I found B & D Troops were Aviation and it looks like the entire 10th was attached to the 1st Cav Division. If nothing else you will get a realistic description of what he most likely went thru. If you go to the National Archives your Mom or Grandma can get a copy of his DD214 (Separation papers). That will have all medals earned and his MOS (MOS is the job you do)
Some of these books can get descriptive to the point you may not even want to know. Depending on what he did he could have been knee deep in more fun than he deserved...or wanted!
I found a book written by an Lt in the same Battalion my Dad served with in WWII Europe. It confirmed exactly what I thought it would. I spent 9 years in the Army myself and had a pretty good idea of what would be confirmed and was reading descriptions of things that could NOT be told until long after the war.
