Cia Department
Thursday, January 27th, 2011What language would be more advantageous for obtaining a career State Department / CIA?
Urdu, Punjabi, or Persian? as well as they are not available: Dari, Pashto or Balochi?
Really, there is no specific language is the key everything. It is necessary for each language, as long as you're good at it. That said, the Persian is of no assistance to the State Department considering Persian is spoken in Iran - a country that the United States has no diplomatic relations. Regarding Punjabi, it's really dark, so that the demand is lower than that of Urdu, which is spoken throughout Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan. In addition, the language spoken of Urdu is almost identical to Hindi, the language spoken in India. Dari and Pashtu are almost entirely limited to Afghanistan, so it is obviously a need for both. Baluchi is also very dark. As a sidenote, Arabic is completely different from all the above languages. They have no "dialects," as another poster. I can speak and read Arabic, and if you want to know how none of these languages I understand, the answer is no.
