Chris, The Marines have their own special operations units. They are called Force Recon, and they are very qualified as Navy SEALs and Army Special Forces (Green Berets). They operate as small units, and are in tip-top physical condition. Go to the office of a Marine Corps recruiter and ask questions on Recon, or view them online. I am a former naval officer, and the Marines used to test for Recon right in front of my office. I used to go and was very impressed by candidates. But - the vast majority are enlisted, not officers. Marine officers are given leadership opportunities while more junior officers. Marines operate as smaller and more mobile units, which powers their junior Leadership agent are honed more sharply. The Army, operating as much larger units have more officers, and receive not to exercise command unit until later a Navy officer.
