Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Vietnam War soldier patch symbol meaning?
I found my uncle's Vietnam War suit and the patch has what appears to be a bird's foot (eagle?) holding onto a lightning bolt. Do you know what that means or stands for? He was in intelligence.
Army Security Agency , undercover designation in Nam as Radio Research. You can type Army Security Agency in your web search box and it will give you some good reading. Also a web search for 8thRRFS will give you info on my duty station with ASA in Nam. On the lighter side, the colors on the patch goes this way. Black is for the night we fear, Blue the water we won't go near, White is for the flag we fly , Yellow is the reason why , Red is for the blood we shed, as you see there is no red,.lol The first American killed in Viet Nam was an ASA member, Sp4 James T. Davis on Dec. 22, 1961. We were known as " spooks and spies ' , 4 Rs, No Rank, No Respect , No Recognition and No Record.
