Vietnam Enemy
How much then cannibalism in Vietnam? I know of at least one person who has eaten the enemy.?
Note: not a joking matter either! Philly means frag kill your own people. I know a guy who served in nam he even describes what we taste. We are very salty and he once said you try the man can not think of any other meat. Kinda gross, but I know it is made. He said he would cut strips of thighs (better part) and smoke them and hang them to ALICE gear for when he was hungry.
Some of the inhabitants of the mountain in the north west of Vietnam, Laos and South western China have practiced cannibalism for centuries or even thousands of years. I read a number of references in different books and magazines on this primitive common practice, saying it was also produced in the above areas. I also talked with veterans of the Vietnam War, both Allied and the forces of North Vietnam who speak of what happens in the mountains during the war, but not by themselves have been the witness, just hearing about it. That said, I have not found evidence of anthropological / archaeological record to occur in Vietnam. (eg skulls, bones or other evidence such as that found in New Guinea) The evidence of cannibalism in Vietnam appears to be confined to literature and anecdotal references. A very interesting reference I read said that the North Vietnamese forces avoided the mountains because of the fear that if she is taken captive by the people of the mountain, they thought they would be killed and eaten. Be ate is odious in many organized religions in Asia, resulting in them the belief that they are consumed, they would have without the after life or reincarnation, if it happened to them. The practice of cannibalism has been performed mainly on religious and spiritual beliefs. The appearance cannibalism for food was generally limited to starvation and the threat of famine situations. The natives of the remote highlands of Papua New Guinea, apparently still practice. An Australian missionary / Pastor was killed and eaten in the 1980s. His bones have since been recovered by the family ID'ed through DNA and there was evidence of human teeth marks on bones. Elders also spoke to eat to take in his mind. Cannibalism also occurs in the universe of criminally insane situations. Jeffery Dharma example. In wartime, it is known and historically recorded that the Japanese and Allied forces ate them during the Second World War. It was not common, but given the day because of threat of famine without resupply.
